Therapies

Activate has a multi-disciplinary therapy team with input from Speech and Language (SALT), Neurophysiotherapy and Assistive Technology staff. We also work collaboratively with external agencies and professionals across other therapy services to ensure the individualised needs and interests of all our learners are met.

In 2022, we opened our dedicated therapy suite: The Woodlands Spa. This area has a hydrotherapy pool, rebound room and spa reception area.

Students with hydrotherapy needs listed in their EHCPs have timetabled sessions in the pool. The rebound room has an exercise area with a large trampoline which can be used with learners to help facilitate their movement and promote balance, sensory integration and relaxation. Our rebound and hydrotherapy rooms are run by trained staff who deliver sessions which have been individualised according to student’s unique therapy needs.

The Woodlands Spa also has an open reception area where some students have work placements as spa assistants. They help take care of the daily running of the new spa facility and some even take part as beauty therapists; offering hand massages and nail painting for staff and peers by appointment.
