Land-based Studies
Activate has a thriving allotment where students can learn how to produce and care for home grown crops in a calm, relaxing environment.
Students maintain the allotment area, producing and caring for home grown crops to sell in the Activate Village Farm Shop. Students take part in planting, watering and harvesting the crops with a focus on health and safety.
Individualised activities in land-based are linked to student’s end destinations and include many transferable skills that they develop, including: life and work skills, communication, fine and gross motor skills, independence, health and safety awareness.
Students also develop their social skills through team building and working together, developing a sense of ownership and being encouraged to try new activities.
